Makeup artist Jamie Greenberg remembers the job that transported her career to primetime.
“My first red carpet job was with Katrina Bowden for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, six years ago when she was on 30 Rock.
Katrina got ready at the Beverly Hilton; she wore a blue-gray Christian Siriano dress, which we complimented with a smokey eye, nude lips, and flushed cheeks.
I’d assisted other makeup artists a million times before this, but still second-guessed myself, so I went home immediately afterward and waited by the computer to see photos [from the event].
Katrina looked fantastic!
The next day, I received a text from her saying that she loved what I did and had left something for me at the hotel’s front desk.
Katrina had handwritten me a thank you note. I felt so satisfied, and that’s when it hit me:
I was worthy of working at this level.
I’d turned my pipe dream of doing celebrities’ makeup into a reality.
